Description
This is a great everyday red from the Rhone Valley, made from 40% Grenache, 40% Mourvèdre, and 20% Syrah, almost exclusively from the Grand Prébois vineyards. This is full of fruit and very versatile, for a party, a BBQ or the table! From the Perrin family, makers of Chateau Beaucastel too.
TASTING NOTE: An attractive, medium to deep red colour. On the nose: Aromas are fresh and fruity, with cranberry and strawberry scent, followed by a hint of pepper and wild herb. On the palate: Medium-bodied, less full than a Chateauneuf-du-Pape for example, and has smooth, almost velvety tannins. It’s juicy and extremely well-balanced, with a long finish of blackberries, plums and herbs. It’s not an especially complicated wine, with its beauty being lovely berry fruit, midweight and a juicy, moreish nature! 14% alcohol by volume.
FOOD PAIRING, STORING AND SERVICE: This is a juicy, succulent red that is perfect on its own and can easily please a crowd at a party, given its smooth, fruity nature. Try it alongside barbecued chicken thighs. For a particular food-pairing idea, try this wine with lamb kebabs and couscous salad. It’s drinking well now but will keep till summer 2024 with ease, no need to decant.
