**delivery from 1st March** Travel through a fine wine region or style each month with these half bottles, by producers who have forged the vinous way to our hearts. Delicious wines, often made in relatively limited quantities, that really show what the particular region or style is about. The wines can be white, red or a mix depending on the region. Electronic tasting notes and guided, online tastings (a mix of live and recorded tastings) are included, all hosted by our Director and Master of Wine, Vicki.

FEBRUARY SELECTION: Wines of the Mediterranean

While the winter weather is still a little dreary, your February fine wine subscription is definitely not! In your case, we have the famed producer Chateau Musar, from Lebanon. Chateau Musar make a smooth, distinctive, highly-regarded red using Cinsaut, Carignan and Cabernet Sauvignon grapes, from the ancient Bekaa Valley. Next, it’s over to Crete for a unique, luscious sweet wine by Lyrarakis, made in the traditional way of drying the grapes in the sun, to concentrate the natural sugars and flavours. A delicious wine results, from Vidiano, Dafni, Assyrtiko and other rare grape varieties. To continue the tour of Mediterranean, we head to coastal Sicily and Donnafugata’s Nero d’Avola, which is a native red grape of this region. It’s full-flavoured with black fruit, spice and wild herb notes; as a result it’s a great food pairing. Finally, we head to Puglia for Tormaresca’s fresh, citrus-scented Chardonnay, the perfect Italian white wine to perk up the tastebuds in winter!

The tasting in February is Wednesday, 19th, online via zoom. We’ll be discussing the Mediterreanean, its history and why the wines made there are so great, as well as chatting with Marc Hochar, owner of Chateau Musar, and tasting his 2018 vintage red. Details will be sent a week before the tasting to subscribers.
