Description

TASTING NOTE: A light yellow colour with hints of green. On the nose: it is lively and fresh with herbaceous notes of thyme and verbena, as well as elderflower and passionfruit, and mixed citrus aromas. On the palate: it’s light to medium-bodied with the naturally refreshing acidity of Sauvignon Blanc. It’s really mouthwatering, dry and crisp with a lovely fruitiness too. At 12.5% it’s moderate in alcohol and well-balanced and elegant in style. It’s unoaked and the emphasis is on the clean, herb, floral and citrus notes, with a long, lingering and fresh finish.

FOOD PAIRING, STORAGE AND SERVICE: A great aperitif style, this Touraine is also up to foodmatching, particularly asparagus, goat’s cheese dishes and green salads. It’s also very good with green curries, as it can handle some heat! Other matches depending on the time of year include tomato salads or pastas, or lightly dressed seafood dishes. Drink now or store till Spring 2027. Chill to 8 degrees C.

ABOUT: Domaine Haut Perron is a small, family-owned producer based in the heart of the Touraine wine region, in the Loire Valley, near the small town of Thésée la Romaine, close to Blois and Chambord. The Allion family have been making wine for generations and are certified producers under the Terra Vitis code, i.e with a sustainable, organic ethos. The estate is run by Cedric Allion from his beautiful, old chalk-walled house, made from the local tufa stone. They vinify one wine, this delicious Touraine, but it’s great (and exceptional value if found on a restaurant list!).
