Description
Jasci & Marchesani are an excellent Organic winegrower in the Chieti province of Abruzzo, on the east coast of central Italy (they are cousins of the Jasci who make our excellent red Montepulciano d’Abruzzo). The company was founded by Sebastiano Jasci, who pioneered Organic viticulture as far back as 1960, achieving certification by 1978. Today, the 33-hectare estate is run by Sebastiano’s son Nicola, his wife Federica, and sister-in-law Teresa. They continue in the same ethos, with careful vine-growing to avoid chemical and energy inputs, low yields, as well as a winery that is run using renewable energy. They make this delightfully fresh, lemon-scented Pecorino white wine. It has lovely floral notes on the nose, with pithy lemon aromas too, and a medium-bodied palate that has a refreshing, crisp feel with rich citrus flavour. It’s long and juicy, with a flavour of just-pressed lemons, and moderate alcohol of 12.5%. A great food wine, try it with simple steamed or grilled fish, or baked, meatier fish with fennel and herbs. It would also work well with a burrata and tomato salad, or salads with melon and parma ham for a super alfresco meal.
