Description

We’re very pleased to have another small parcel of Chambolle-Musigny from Joseph Drouhin. Along with Vosne-Romanee and Gevrey-Chambertin, this is one of the most famous villages in the red-wine area of Cote de Nuits, Burgundy, and deservedly so!

TASTING NOTES: The style of Chambolle is particularly aromatic, scented and charming, with lovely black and red fruit aromas and a supple, juicy palate. This is fresh, with pure fruit flavours and a mouthwatering, long finish. There are gentle tannins that support the wine, but it’s extremely smooth in texture, and overall more to towards fruit or spices from oak-ageing (it was aged for 14 months in oak barrels of which 25% were new French oak barrels, but this is very subtle on the palate).

FOOD PAIRING, SERVICE AND STORING: It’s ready to drink now, with an expressive nose and palate (no need to decant it), but will keep till the early 2030s easily should you wish to store it. Delicious! 13.5% alcohol.

ABOUT: Joseph Drouhin, a Chablis native, arrived in Beaune, the heart of Burgundy in 1880 and founded the winery and negociant business which is now in the hands of his four great-grandchildren, Philippe, Veronique, Laurent and Frederic who each play a different role in helping to grow the family wine companies in Burgundy and USA. With almost 200 acres of vines in Burgundy, they organically farm their own vineyards and purchase grapes from leading growers in the Burgundy region.
