Description
Ridge Vineyards based in the Santa Cruz mountains (South of San Francisco) was established in 1962. Paul Draper took up the role of winemaker in 1969 and is still involved in making wines at the winery to this day. Ridge, like other California estates received almost instant praise in the world of wine after California performed so well in the 1976 Judgement of Paris tasting – beating some of France’s most revered wines. From the Monte Bello Vineyard this is a delicious blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot with a small percentage of other red Bordeaux grape varieties too. Full of black berries and herb with a hint of toastier notes from ageing in oak barrels, this is a medium to full-bodied Cabernet with plenty of fine-grained tannin expected of great Bordeaux blends. We would recommend decanting it for a few hours before enjoying. 14% ABV.
