Description
This is an award-winning, golden-hued Austrian wine from the family-run Tschida vineyard. Bursting with apple and honey aromas, it pairs beautifully with desserts like apple pie, tropical fruits, creamy cheesecake or with soft cheeses. Aged in stainless steel barrels, the Grüner Veltliner grape develops sweet, honeyed flavours, making this the perfect treat for anyone who enjoys a luscious dessert wine.
TASTING NOTE: This wine is a rich yellow/gold in colour. On the nose: there are aromas of baked apple, lemon or lemon sweets, bitter orange like in an orange peel or marmalade, and some warm spices such as ginger, along with honey. On the palate: It is fairly full-bodied with a smooth and velvety texture, and technically it is sweeter than Sauternes. However, you may not notice this, as it has low alcohol of 8% and good natural acidity, both of which give a mouthwatering freshness, extremely well-balanced palate and succulent, juicy finish. Yum!
FOOD PAIRING, STORING AND SERVICE: This a fruity, sweet, juicy wine and we enjoy it with fruity desserts such as apple pie, tropical fruit salads as well as richer, creamier dishes. To compliment the zesty citrus aromas, you could pair with a lemon curd cheesecake, or a creme brulee as an end-of-meal showstopper. If you prefer a savoury match, this wine goes well with cheese and crackers, with soft cheeses such as brie or roquefort. The optimal serving temperature for this wine is refrigerated to around 9 to 10 °C. Drink now until 2028.
ABOUT: Tschida is a family-owned vineyard located in a village in Austria called Illmitz, which sits on the eastern shore of Lake Neusiedlersee. Hans Tschida makes the wine along with family members. The vineyard conditions are humid from the influence of the water nearby, and this is perfect for the development of botrytis, the noble rot that arises in the grapes, concentrating the sugars, acidity and flavour. This is a Beerenauslese style, meaning it is from individually harvested berries that were particularly affected by noble rot, and have a luscious, concentrated sweetness as a result, as well as the complex, marmelade and honey notes of this style. It’s truly delicious!
