Description

This Barolo is from selected small vineyard sites throughout the Barolo region of Northern Italy. Produced by the famed Vietti family, this wine is a stunner and something that will only get better in the cellar or a long decanting.

TASTING NOTE: Intense ruby colour in the glass, On the nose: Plenty of red and black ripe cherry, and blackberry, with the classic Nebbiolo notes of rose petals and tobacco. On the palate: This is full-bodied with powerful and rich notes of dried savoury herbs, like thyme and oregano, with leather, and dried red fruits like cherry, currants and plums. The finish is long with a well-integrated tannic structure. 14.5% alcohol by volume.

FOOD PAIRING, STORING AND SERVICE: A powerful wine like this will pair with stewed meats, wild game, red meats, and hard cheeses. This will continue to age beautifully in the cellar for another 8-10 years but, can be enjoyed sooner, and would benefit from a long decanting for at least an hour before enjoying.

ABOUT: Vietti is a family that has been making delicious Barolo, Barbera, and other mainly red wines for almost 200 years. They are based in Castiglione Falletto, which is one of the best parts of Barolo, in Piemonte, northwest Italy. They made the wine news a few years ago after they sold the business and the vineyards to an American entrepreneur and wine lover. It was seen as controversial at the time but in reality, meant that Elena and Luca could continue to make even greater wine with outside help in terms of investment into the cellar, land and wines.
