Description
This Pinot Noir from Yabby Lake Vineyards in the Mornington Peninsula of Victoria, Australia is a single vineyard expression showing great purity and character, that reflects the site and the season in which it was grown. It’s the latest of the wine that won the famous Jimmy Watson Trophy a decade ago (the first Pinot Noir to do so), changing the Australian wine scene (more commonly known for richer, heavier reds) in the process.
TASTING NOTE: Bright crimson in colour. On the nose: Plenty of red and black fruits, (raspberry, and red and black currant with black cherries) floral and spice notes. On the palate: Medium-bodied with silky red fruit layers with fine tannins, and a long and powerful finish. 13% alcohol by volume.
FOOD PAIRING, STORING AND SERVICE: We would suggest this Pinot Noir is a great match for meats off the grill such as spice-marinated beef kebab or simply with grilled beef burgers. This also pairs very well with a hearty roasted vegetable stew with creme fraiche Enjoy now or keep until 2028 with ease.
ABOUT: Founded in the mid-1990s by Mem and Robert Kirby, located in the north of the Mornington Peninsula of Victoria, Australia. Today the vineyards are overseen by Viticulturist, Thomas Schulz who meticulously manages the vineyards each season. Working closely with Chief Winemaker and General Manager Tom Carson, together they craft exceptional wines from the unique vineyard plots, each parcel is hand-selected and handled separately in the winery with the understanding of what each vineyard plot can offer.
