They are on a quest for excellence across 90 appellations with Chardonnay and Pinot Noir grape varieties that reveal the essence of the terroirs. In this pursuit of excellence, elegance and harmony are the guiding principles for the practices of wine-making. When consumed in their youth, they are fruity and delicious, with the complex characteristics of the wines revealing themselves to those with further patience.

Drouhin Wines

With a large catalogue of wines on offer, we will look at some of the best wines that Drouhin has in its selection.

One of the best wines on the Drouhin market is the Drouhin Beaune Clos des Mouches Premier Cru Rouge; the Clos Des Mouches range has cemented a reputation as one of the three flagship Premier Cru sites. A deep red ruby colour, it has a smoky taste with a hint of liquorice and is all balanced with delicate and silky tannins. On the nose, it is full of intense and fresh fruits, such as cherries, raspberries and blackberries. This is known as a superb wine which lingers long after it has been enjoyed.

The Drouhin Beaune Clos Des Mouches PRemier Cru Blanc is a white burgundy and is one of the most coveted white wines in the region. It is truly one of Joseph Drouhin's flagship wines. A golden yellow colour, it has a fragrant aroma of jasmine, peach and rose petals, a slight hint of almond too. On the palate, it is a medium-body with fresh hints of citrus, almond and light honey, round and flavoursome, and it also has the trademark freshness of Burgundy with a long, juicy finish.

Drouhin Heritage

Starting in 1918, Joseph Drouhin took over a long-established business at the young age of 22; Maurice, the visionary, aimed to expand. In 1921, Maurice Drouhin took the opportunity to purchase their first plot of land in the terroir known as 'Clos Des Mouches', which is located at the southernmost point of the Beaune area.

Robert Drouhin took over the vineyards, focusing on Chablis vineyards. In the 1960s, he invested in their presence there, acquiring around 40 hectares. He also established the House's oenology laboratory with one of the first female oenologists, Laurence Jobard. He also ventured to America to establish Domaine Drouhin, Oregon, in 1987.

This creation is now a winery estate in Dundee Hills in Oregon, spanning 235 acres, creating fine Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, forged in the tradition of the Drouhin family. Both of these estates are under the Drouhin family name and are both under the same owner, using the same techniques and traditions to make the best wine.

Philipee Drouhin took over leadership of the farm in 1988, assuring the arrival of the fourth generation. Shortly after assuming the role, the estate's practices focused on viticulture and biodynamic farming due to Philipee's concern for the environment and biodiversity balance. With 93 hectares, Domaine Joseph Drouhin is one of the region's largest estates, spreading across the entire Burgundy wine region.
