Description

This is a classic example of Hunter Valley Semillon, from Brokenwood, in Australia. With plenty of zesty flavours, it’s a great food wine to enjoy now or to age further and develop a lovely honeyed complexity.

TASTING NOTE: Light white gold colour in the glass, with some green reflections. On the nose: Plenty of floral aromas along with green apples, white peaches and a hint of honey. On the palate: Light to medium in body with mouth-watering flavours of lime, grapefruit juice, and green apples. Notes of wildflower honey balance with a zesty, medium acidity. These flavours linger into and dry and refreshing finish. 11% alcohol by volume.

FOOD PAIRING, STORING AND SERVICE: This Semillon with the floral notes and fresh green apple is a great match as a pairing with seafood and fresh Spring vegetables such as asparagus and peas, especially with a pasta primavera, or fried soft-shell crab. Enjoy this wine chilled at a temperature of 8-10C degrees. Drink now or this can be cellared further until end of 2026.

ABOUT: Founded in 1970, by a trio of Sydney-based solicitors and hobby winemakers. Founders Tony Albert, John Beeston and James Halliday purchased a 10-acre block in the foothills of the Brokenback Ranges, of the Hunter Valley, near the town of Pokolbin. Originally destined to be a cricket pitch for the community (!), it was soon planted with Cabernet Sauvignon and Shiraz. Brokenwood’s first vintage was in 1973 and today Stuart Hordern leads the winemaking team, with winemaker Kate Sturgess too.
