TASTING NOTE: This Chilean Cabernet Sauvignon has a vibrant red-purple colour with attractive ruby hints. On the nose: it has an expressive mix of black and red fruit aromas, such as plum and blackcurrant, layered with gentle chocolate and vanilla, and a subtle balsamic note to add complexity. On the palate: it is juicy and well-structured, with flavours of cherry pie and plum, plus hints of clove and creamy vanilla. It is smooth and medium-bodied, with lively acidity, velvety tannins and moderate 13% alcohol, plus an elegant, satisfying finish.
PAIRING & SERVING IDEAS: This wine pairs well with grilled red meats or oven-roasted lamb, while its depth of flavour stands up well to spiced stews and pasta in rich, tomato-based sauces. A selection of aged cheeses also goes well. For a vegan option, try it with a hearty lentil and vegetable stew or grilled aubergine with a robust tomato sauce, both of which echo the wine’s richness and savoury notes
The Errazuriz winery was founded in 1870 by Don Maximiano Errazuriz. While most Chilean vineyards were located close to the capital, Santiago, Errazuriz looked north to establish his estate, saying that “from the best land, the best wine” would be made. The estate is now led by Eduardo Chadwick, an active ambassador for Chilean wines who is passionate about building a sustainable future for Chile’s wine industry, while maintaining Vina Errazuriz’s high reputation for quality and commercial acumen.
