Description

This is an excellent Rose sparkling wine made by Corinne Seely and Fred Langdale, from Exton Park’s vineyards in Hampshire’s South Downs national parks. It’s made from 70% Pinot Noir and 30% Pinot Meunier, pressed gently creating a beautiful salmon pink colour. It’s a very elegant sparkling wine, with light raspberry notes and a hint of herbs, followed by plum flavours as the Pinot Noir opens up.

It’s a great example of Exton Park’s house blend, expertly blended using 23 reserve wines (hence the name RB 23) from the winery, and spending 3 years minimum ageing (similar to Champagne) adding to the structure. The vineyard is set on chalky soil, with the team adopting as many natural methods as possible, for example, planting wildflowers, and hand-pruning the vines. The grapes are fermented to create still wines that are added to the reserve library. We would drink this with cured meats or shellfish but it would also go superbly with a fresh, fruity desert. Alternatively, enjoy on its own as an aperitif, and it could keep for 2 years. A delicious wine to enjoy, and a wonderful example of English Sparkling wines at their best. 11.5% ABV
