Who makes this wine and where is it made?

The Adriano Adami vineyard and winery is located in the Alta Marca area near Treviso, Veneto and was established in 1920 by the Great Grandfather of the current owners – Franco and Armando Armani. The vineyard is set on a rugged set of hills where Prosecco originated from and has been made for hundreds of years. Bosco di Gica is the old name given to the forested area near the vineyard.

Technical Details

This wine is made from 95-97% Glera and 3-5% Chardonnay.
The residual sugar is 9-10g/L
The grapes were pressed lightly with bladder presses. Fermentation with cultured yeasts at controlled temperatures (18-20°C). The juice was in contact with fine lees in stainless steel tanks for three months. The wine was produced using “Metodo Italiano” in steel pressure tanks.
Secondary fermentation occurred at temperatures of between 15-17°C and cold tartrate stabilisation at-4°C. Tight filtration was carried out before bottling to remove spent yeast from the wine. This process took around 40 days.

Who makes this and where is it made?

Malcolm Isaac, a farmer who made a success of growing and selling watercress then turned to farming vines. Now 90, Malcolm is still involved in the running of the overall estate but day to day it's Fred Langdale and Corinne Seely who grow the grapes and make the wines

Tasting notes

Fine bubbles in the glass and on the nose, gentle strawberry and lemon fruit with a touch of elderflower too. Medium bodied, with a fresh, crisp palate and smooth, lingering finish

Ideas for drinking/food matching

A versatile sparkling wine that many will love. The gentle red fruit character gives a smooth feel to the palate, despite the typically high acidity that English sparklers tend to show. With food, try with salmon or winter salads

A perfect aperitif but its light and delicate flavours would match very well with a seafood selection or soft cheeses.

Technical Details

This wine is a blend of Chardonnay (75%), Pinot Nero (15%) and Pinot Bianco (10%). The handpicked grapes from 134 vineyards were vinified individually with reserves of the best vintages (at least 20%) going into the Cuvée Prestige blend. The grapes were chilled before whole-bunch pressing. The wine spent 28 months on yeasts before being ready for disgorgement in the absence of oxygen (a system patented by Ca'del Bosco) – this avoids the need for additional sulphites. The residual sugar is 4g/L.
