CURRENT SELECTION: For the whites, try Soalheiro’s zesty, delicious Alvarinho from northern Portugal. It is moderate in alcohol, crisp and very very refreshing, perfect for the warmer months. Then to a lovely, unoaked Chardonnay, a Macon Villages from Louis Jadot in Burgundy. This is a great match for any seafoods, creamy pasta dishes or roast chicken. And from Italy, Castel Firmian’s juicy, peachy Pinot Grigio from the Dolomite mountains, it’s a far cry from the average white found on the top of a restaurant menu! For the reds, try Yabby Lake’s gorgeous red from Australia. This is Shiraz, but from Heathcote in the Victoria region, with elegant fragrance, and a juicy palate that is medium to full and not too heavy. It’s delicious. Next, a red Burgundy from Domaine Prieure and the ‘Hautes Cotes’ of Burgundy, the higher-altitude vineyards that make supple, refreshing Pinot Noir which is exceedingly versatile, and a good choice for a red in the summer. Finally, to Chile’s Vina Errazuriz for a fruity Cabernet that is easy to drink anytime!
