Description
This superb Chardonnay from Shaw and Smith has been described as a ‘cult classic’ and it’s easy to see why. This is an elegant, well-structured Chardonnay from the Adelaide Hills in Southern Australia. If you are a lover of great Burgundies but want to explore further afield, we are confident this could win you over!
TASTING NOTE: Soft gold colour in the glass. On the nose: Fresh white flowers, lemon and nectarine, as well as subtle woodsmoke and hazelnut notes. On the palate: Medium to full-bodied with refreshing acidity, and a dry, fine finish. This is built to further develop with age if you can wait. 13.5% alcohol by volume.
FOOD PAIRING, STORING AND SERVICE: This pairs wonderfully with many dishes but we enjoyed this with a light roasted vegetable risotto, but try with dishes which incorporate a creamy sauce as this will help but the richness. Enjoy now or keep until winter 2024.
ABOUT: Shaw + Smith was established in 1989 by cousins Michael Hill Smith MW and Martin Shaw. They make wines from the Adelaide Hills region of Australia, using the cooler temperatures there. Their ‘M3’ has been described as a ‘cult classic’ and it’s easy to see why: the wine is high in quality, delicious and well packaged. It’s named after the 3 ‘M’s’ who founded the estate: Martin Shaw and Michael and Matthew Hill Smith.
