Description
A Bordeaux blend of 48% Merlot, 27% Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% Cabernet Franc, 11% Petit Verdot, and 4% Malbec from the Laibach-Kuehner family. A great foodie red that will match roast meats and veggies with ease. From the Stellenbosch area of South Africa, home to the best reds!
TASTING NOTE: A deep, rich ruby colour in the glass, On the nose: Prominent and vibrant notes of cigar box spice, chocolate, and cocoa powder, with plenty of ripe dark fruits such as plum, blackberries, blackcurrant, and a hint of mint. On the palate: It’s full-bodied, bold, and rich with generous tannins typical of the Bordeaux grapes and plenty more berry fruit character that has an almost never-ending juicy finish. 14% alcohol by volume.
FOOD PAIRING, STORING AND SERVICE: This wine is a perfect match for those summer evenings, paired with food from the barbecue. Whether it’s grilled steak, lamb, or chicken, this is the wine for it! We would also suggest trying this wine with a classic gourmet beef burger off the grill with a nice garden salad or with herb-marinated and char-grilled vegetable kebabs. Enjoy now but can be cellared until 2025.
ABOUT: A fairly new producer from the Cape, the Laibach-Kuehner family purchased the 40-hectare estate in the Simonsberg part of Stellenbosch, in the early 1990s and began replanting on the site as well as building a state-of-the-art production facility and winery. The goal was to craft a modern, drinkable style that highlighted what the region could offer as well as becoming the first organic winery in the region as of the 2000s. The estate has recently been purchased by renowned producer Kanonkop, so expect exciting things in future!
