Description

It is another excellent addition to the recent rise of superb English wines, from Exton Park, in Hampshire’s South Downs National Park. Made from Pinot Noir (60%) and Chardonnay (40%), this is uniquely English in style.

TASTING NOTE: A gentle, golden colour with delicate bubbles. On the nose: A lovely apple and citrus freshness. On the palate: It opens with refreshing medium acidity and a fine mousse with a medium body. There are plenty more notes of citrus fruits such as lemon, white grapefruit, and pineapple that’s followed by attractive, brioche notes with a dry and very long finish. 11.5% alcohol by volume.

FOOD PAIRING, STORING AND SERVICE: Surprisingly versatile as it works brilliantly as an aperitif or entertaining wine. The citrus notes pair well with both sweet and savoury dishes; try with smoked salmon canapes or starters (we particularly enjoyed this with a light Victoria sponge cake!). It’s ready to enjoy now and will continue to drink great into 2025.

ABOUT: Exton Park is based in Hampshire, near Alresford, not far from Winchester and Southampton. The 60 acres of land was bought in 2009 by Malcolm Isaacs MBE, a successful watercress farmer who then moved into the wine business. Malcolm recognised the potential in the area with the chalk soils of Hampshire’s South Downs National Park for the creation of excellent Sparkling wine. He was then joined by French winemakers Corinne Seely and Fred Langdale who make a range of fine Sparkling wines from this single estate.
