This small batch wine is produced from the Tinta Barroca grape. A deep rich ruby colour in the glass, with a gentle nose of bright red fruits like red currant and cherry followed by a slightly tilled earthy aroma. The palate is full, with more red fruits and a slight mushroom note with red liquorice, soft acidity, and lingering tannins that carry the wine into a plush almost juicy finish. Enjoy this wine alongside slow-roasted pork shoulder or with a hearty-gilled summer vegetable salad. 13%ABV
Named ‘Loskop’ a South African term for one who is forgetful or absent-minded, after the day Pieter Walser went to pick up the small batch of Tinta Barroca a friend had offered him, he had awoken early and forgot his shoes as he left, and spent the whole day barefoot! The label on the bottle is a photo from that day. Each of Pieter’s wines tells a story in the name and in the bottle.
Blank Bottle is the brainchild of Pieter Walser. He does not own any vineyards and buys grapes from vineyards across the Western Cape. This allows him the ability to craft new wines each year, experimenting with different grape blends and challenging preconceived ideas of how we expect wines to taste. He then repeats wines that are particularly successful as part of his range the following year.
