Description

A delicious Pinot Noir sourced from Yarrum vineyard in Marlborough, New Zealand by Greywacke. It has toasty and ripe red fruit complexity. An elegant, fine wine that deserves its place on many a starred restaurant table.

TASTING NOTE: A deep red colour in the glass. On the nose: Expressive with ripe red fruits like cherry, strawberries and plum, and notes of spiced toasted walnuts. On the palate: It continues with plenty more of the rich ripe fruits like black cherry, raspberry, and red plums, with smooth tannins and a hint of spice from the French oak to round the long finish. 13.5% alcohol by volume.

FOOD PAIRING, STORING AND SERVICE: We would suggest pairing this Pinot Noir alongside slow-cooked duck confit with fresh cabbage and root vegetable slaw or a decadent chocolate cake with cherries. It’s great now but has good structure and plenty of flavour to ensure it will age for another 3 years.

ABOUT: Greywacke is the name of this now-famous wine producer, and also of their vineyard at Rapaura, Marlborough, New Zealand. The owner is Kevin Judd, previously known for his famous Cloudy Bay wines before he sold Cloudy Bay to found Greywacke in 2009. Kevin purchases grapes from other growers too, around the Southern Valleys of Marlborough and the central Wairau Plains, particularly in Woodbourne, Renwick and other Rapaura vineyards.
