Description
Made by the Antinori family of Tignanello fame, this is a brilliant, structured wine from the Chianti area, with a mix of Cabernet Sauvignon, Sangiovese, Petit Verdot, Syrah and Merlot grape varieties, it’s a great example of wine from the Tuscany area!
TASTING NOTE: A deep ruby-red colour in the glass. On the nose: Fresh and aromatic with black fruits of cherry and blackcurrant, plus savoury hints of herbs, tea leaf and tobacco from the Sangiovese grape, and spiced, cinnamon notes. On the palate: It has a medium to full-bodied palate which, as with many great Tuscan wines, opens and softens in the glass. It’s ripe, and well-balanced with moderate alcohol and acidity, plus fairly firm tannins. A well-balanced, ripe, flavoursome wine with a long finish, and plenty of complexity from fruit, savoury and spice notes.13% alcohol by volume.
FOOD PAIRING, STORING AND SERVICE: This is a hearty and versatile wine that would perfectly accompany simpler fare such as a pizza or a red sauce pasta. Specifically, try pairing this with a stone-baked, thin-crust margarita pizza, or with a rich, heirloom tomato soup with garlic croutons. Decant for 30 minutes before serving. Can be cellared until spring 2026 with ease if you can wait!
ABOUT: The Antinori family are hugely influential in Tuscany and have been making wine there for over six centuries.
