Description

Cuvee Frederic Emile is easily one of the top ten wines of the Alsace region, a blend of Riesling from Osterberg and Geisberg Grand Cru vineyards. From a renowned, family-run Alsace producer Trimbach, this is a special and unique wine.

TASTING NOTE: Golden colour in the glass, showing some age. On the nose: This Riesling has complex aromas of dried tropical fruits, honeycomb, and candied fruit peel. On the palate: It’s dry, full, and intense, with lots of zesty lemon, grapefruit, and green apple acidity, with a long flavourful finish. 12.5% alcohol by volume.

FOOD PAIRING, STORING AND SERVICE: This has a deliciously food-friendly bite from the natural acidity. In Alsace, this acidity is what goes so well with, and cuts straight through, the local cuisine. Trimbach recommends enjoying this wine with herb and butter-roasted chicken or pan-seared white fish with a dill and lemon butter sauce. Drink now or hold for up to 5 more years.

ABOUT: If there is one producer to know from Alsace, it’s the Trimbach family. Making wine since the early 1600s, they are still a family business, with at least four members involved, and make delicious wines that give a good impression of the style of Alsace. They are based in Ribeauville and make a classic range of Pinot Gris, Riesling, and Gewurztraminer grape varieties, plus their excellent Grand Cru level Rieslings Clos St Hune and Cuvee Frederic Emile, both easily two of the top ten wines of the region
